Product Description
1974, Made in Japan, FujiGen production
This is the Greco SA-450 model
From the “Gneco” period headstock logo era
(the “R” in the “Greco” logo reads like an “N”)
These are a pre-serial number production, from some of the earliest Greco models
Very, very few of the SA-450 model guitars are now around
They are becoming increasingly rare to get a hold of
Near identical features and specs to a Gibson “339”
Loved for their super light weight and smaller (ES339) sized body
But this Greco model/design pre-dates the “real” one by decades !!!
This makes them incredibly sought after, and way ahead of their time
The perfect sized instrument for regular stage use
This one is in excellent overall condition, especially for 46 years of play
The binding is 99% perfect, with no issues regarding cracks or crumbling
(unfortunately, it is common for models of 40+ years of age)
Honey Sunburst finish
Amazing full hollow body, natural tone
Maple front and rear body wood
Subtle, yet beautiful, flamed grain
Photos do not do justice, much better in person
Maple neck with block inlays
Rosewood fretboard, incredibly dark grained
Full body binding and neck binding
24 ¾” scale, 12” radius
Very thin, 60’s style, neck profile
Twin humbuckers, “Gneco” logo chrome covers
Greco Star stamped, sealed headstock tuners
Do not miss out on this amazing vintage guitar
Includes a brand new Hard Case
ITEM CONDITION
All machinery, electrical, and pickups are without issue. Some surface marks, some small impressions/dings/dimples/paint chips/nicks, one light medium buckle rash spot rear of body, some dullness and aging/tarnish to chrome and machinery, (obviously) wear to frets after 46 years – but it is currently set up with D ‘Addario 10-45 strings with a low and fluent action - as pictured.
Note: The hard case is for a full sized 335, not a snug fit for a 339 size, but it does its job. The original Maxon humbuckers (with the printed digit serials of this era) have been replaced. This is truly to the guitars benefit. The ones currently fitted have a FAR greater dynamic range and tonal variation to the stock originals. Neither are identifiable, but the neck is very much a lower wound PAF style, amazing sound for rhythm, almost like a full-bodied acoustic tone. Then the bridge humbucker screams! It is a modern, higher output wound sound, amazing for lead work, or using it with overdrive, distortion, fuzz. Together (in the middle position) they complement each other perfectly. Tone is obviously subjective, but I would be very surprised if you could not find a sound you love from these humbuckers.

A great amount of pride and detail goes into making sure every item arrives safe and in a timely manner. Pedals and small items are packed in multiple layering of bubble wrap and double corrugated shipping cardboard. Guitars, pending the instrument, have strings de tuned so there is no tension on the neck and headstock. Neck/body /headstock are wrapped separately in multiple bubble wrap layers, high density foam and/or cardboard reinforced. If applicable it is then placed in gig/soft case or hard case. If in gig/soft case it is once again bubble wrapped/foam reinforced before being boxed. Each package/box is custom cut and fit in heavy duty double corrugated shipping cardboard. All voids are padded out and the body edge, base, and top of head stock foam reinforced/padded. Finally, the boxing will have copious amounts of high visibility “Fragile” and “This way up” warning labels.
--- We are also extremely environmentally conscious. We recycle almost all bubble wrap, foam, and cardboard packaging material that arrives with all deliveries in, and then order out.
