Product Description
1985, BC Rich, Mockingbird Bass
NJ series (Nagoya, Japan), Japanese BC Rich
Dual P Pickup configuration, packing a MASSIVE punch
BC Varitone system creates a wide range of tones
The variation in sounds has almost endless applications
(not just the expected heavy/metal tones)
The controls have been slightly re wired (which I LOVE the new layout)
They look overwhelming, but after a little time and play they make sense
Top knob is tone
Net knob down is the Varitone selector
Next mini switch down is the 3 way pickup selector
(neck – neck+bridge - bridge)
Bottom knob is Volume
Outer knob is the 9v boost volume (9v battery in rear cavity)
(volume only works with the boost toggle switch is on)
Mini switch (between boost volume and 3 way seletor) is the boost on/off
3 mini switch st bottom - outer mini switch WAS the pickup phase (disconnected)
(personally the phase was always weird and useless, why it disconnected)
The next two mini switches are parallel/series mode for each pickup
(middle is bridge pickup and lower is the neck pickup)
Finally, a micro led light has been installed, but is not active
(I assume this was to show when the “boost” was active)
The bass is an aged White finish
Thin 40mm nut width neck
Modern 12” board
24 fret positions, fretless playing board
Maple neck
Rosewood board, fretless
Standard 34” scale
High mass 4 saddles full adjustable bridge
Sealed two a side headstock tuners
A true standout and head turner, with a thunderous sound
The fretless playing on this neck is unreal !
It is smooth and rolling, with a low action
Giving this bass yest another dimension to it, in both tone and playability
It includes a (non original) BC RICH Gig Case
ITEM CONDITION
All machinery, electrical, and pickups are without issue. Surface marks and scratching, impressions/dings/dimples/dents/paint chips, light aging to hardware, modified electronics as above, the zipper on the gig case is missing the “tag” end (the zipper can still be closed/shut by inching it along) - as pictured.
