Product Description
1985, BC Rich, Warlock Bass
NJ series (Nagoya, Japan), Japanese BC Rich
For those that are fans, or have been searching, this is THE model
Incredibly RARE to find, especially in Australia
This is easily the most sought after, highest end model
The craftsmanship, tone woods, and attention to detail is outstanding
The combination of neck through, Varitone, boost, and tonal switching options is next level
Adding to the already unique and rare feature of this model, this is the reverse headstock variation
It features a dual split coil P Pickup configuration, packing a MASSIVE punch
BC Varitone system creates a wide range of tones
The variation in sounds has almost endless applications
(not just the expected heavy/metal tones)
However… the real insanity begins when you flick the switch to boost (9v battery)
It is quite possibly the LOUDEST model bass you will ever come across
It will literally crack speaker cones, clip/fry amps, and infuriate the sound desk operator
The controls look overwhelming, but after a little time and play they make sense
Top knob is volume
3 way toggle is the pickup selector
(neck – neck+bridge - bridge)
Middle knob is the boost volume
(volume only works with the boost toggle switch is on)
Bottom knob is Tone
Mini switch (between boost volume and Varitone) the boost on/off
“Chicken head” knob is the Varitone – 6 x tone cap values/options
Outer mini switch is the pickup phase (in/out phase)
The next two mini switches are parallel/series mode for each pickup
(middle is neck pickup and lower is the bridge pickup)
The bass is a high gloss white finish
Matching headstock and neck colour
Perfectly offset with black body binding
Alder body
Thin 40mm nut width neck
Modern 12” board
Full 24, Medium jumbo frets
Ebony fretboard
Standard 34” scale
High mass 4 saddles full adjustable bridge
Sealed four a side headstock tuners
This is a bass you will rarely, if ever, see again
40+ years vintage, and in incredible overall condition
(aside from the expected pointy end chips)
And yes….this is the model that Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx made famous
Used extensively in the 1980s, especially during the Shout at the Devil era
With his theatrical “blood splatter” added to the white body
It will satisfy any collector or player alike
As a final bonus it also features the ORIGINAL BC RICH Gig Case
(these in themselves are incredibly rare to see)
ITEM CONDITION
All machinery, electrical, and pickups are without issue. Light surface marks and scuffing, some small impressions/dings/dimples, some chips at the pointy ends, light aging and tarnish to hardware, there is scratching on the top of plastic pickup covers (possible from a metal plectrum?) - as pictured.
