PJ535, Jazz Bass Special model
Direct from the 1985 “Boxer” catalogue model range
1ST Year of Production
This 535 model is much harder to find, and extremely sought after
These Jazz Bass Specials were made famous by Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses
His model (which became a signature reissue) was the PJ555
This 535 is similar, the differences are mainly the slanted pickups and it is a 32” scale
High gloss Black finish
Matching headstock and neck colour
Original Fender Alnico P and J pickups
Hot Rod P-4D (Front), Hot Rod J-5DR (Rear)
These have a larger ¼” pole piece, and higher wind
Massive output and excellent tonal variation between the two
Controls are a 2 x Volume, TBX tone, 3 way pickup selector
32” medium scale
Longer 22 fret board, 7.25” radius
This model was also well regarded for its extremely fast neck
Super thin 37mm nut
Cut away neck pocket for ease of reach of higher frets
Maple one piece neck
Slab Rosewood fretboard, with a nice grain
Only 3.6kg, perfect for comfort and long playing sessions
All Black hardware
Open gear tuners
All original with no modification
This one is a special find
An incredible 40 year old vintage bass in excellent overall condition
Would be an amazing 1985 Birth Year Bass for someone (or yourself) celebrating a 40th this year
Also includes the Original Fender Gig Case/Bag
